Emil Wendel - Pranayama, Kriya Yoga & Philosophy- Emil was born in Switzerland and has been living in Asia since the mid-seventies, studying first Chinese Classics and Taoism in Taiwan, and then Sanskrit and Indian Thought on the Subcontinent. This early research was made possible through a six-year grant by the Department of Education of his home country. The many years of residency in Nepal and India have given Emil an exceptional insight into the depth of Indian Civilization and its underlying currents. One of his mentors was the late Professor Saraswati Prasad Ghimire. The affiliation with him and other Pandits covered research in Hindu and Buddhist literature, as well as thought and ritual in their original context. Emil is a greatly valued member of the Shakti Spirit team. He is a beloved friend and teacher to us as well as many students around world. There is so much more to share about Emil than can be included here. Please see his website for more information: www.beyond-the-asana.com |

Christoph Kummer - Anatomy - Our Anatomy and Physiology Teacher, Chris, an experienced Nurse and a certified Naturopath, specializes in soft tissue bodywork. His detailed understanding of functional anatomy is second to none (none that I’ve met anyway). Chris has taught on dozens of Yoga Teacher Trainings around the world, including most of the Shakti Spirit Trainings, and has also participated in a Yoga Teacher Training as a student himself; so he knows how it feels to ‘be on the other side’. He has a playful ability to make this subject interesting, relevant and interactive, as well as a wonderful knowledge of nutrition and herbal medicine. We are very happy to have him with us again this season. Chris is also the co-founder of Kinda Yoga (www.kindayoga.net), a series of Yoga DVDs aimed at children. |
